What we check before cleaning a mattress

A mark may be permanent, and contamination can sometimes extend deeper than the accessible textile surface. If there is serious mould, biological contamination or structural damage, the appropriate next step may be replacement or specialist advice rather than routine cleaning.
Drying depends on the mattress construction, retained moisture, airflow, temperature and humidity. The mattress must not be covered or used before it is adequately dry. Because conditions differ, drying time is discussed after the surface and room have been assessed.
